When I've put the CD into my player I've definitely not expected
that the first song will be a beautiful acoustic piece that could
easily be taken out of "The Passion of the Christ" or "Assassins Creed"
and then after few seconds BOOOM an amazing Daath like riff open the
gate of pure and heavy, progressive metal.

What I really like about this album is the great diversity and atmosphere
it has. Every song is different from the one before but all of them
are keeping the atmosphere alive and add something fresh and new.
Especially the combination of several vocal techniques, great catchy riffs
and intense drumming are inviting us to listen to this release over
and over again.

today I'm going to review one of Déhà's(Deviant Messiah, Maladie, Merda Mundi,
Yhdarl, ex-Dunkelnacht, ex-Ithilien, ex-Wunde) projects called Imber Luminis
and his 2011 released album Life as Burden.

The first note of this release is leading You into the direction of pure pain, sorrow and suffering. What I really love about this release is the deep atmosphere and the perfect fitting vocals that reach from
screaming to spoken clean vocals that add a special touch to the music.

Also a very positive thing is the alternation from slow melodic parts into heavy, depressive and very dark sections. This makes the music very interesting to listen to.

All in all it's an very atmospheric and doomy release that will give more
than an hour of pure emotion.

I've listened to this release so many times.
But always when I was broken in some way. The music is depressive, sad and painful but its giving me
hope. Hope, that all the bad things that are happening to me will end and it gives me strenght to go on.

I think that this is the highest level of the art, called music.
To give hope and to help people. I don't want to write to much about it because I think that You have to experience this magic by yourself at the right moment and in the right state of mind.

So, please take the time to listen to this amazing one man band.

today I have a little demo for You.
It's the 2011 released Solus demo Forgotten Visions.

Laying dead in this deep abyss, forgotten by all. Only a corpse is left as a monument
of a life that was wasted. The night is the silent keeper of the forgotten.
Decay of the corpse shows the irrelevance of a human life. What's left?
The night.

That's my little imagination while listening to this great release.
It's definitely inspired by early Xasthur but don't get me wrong
"Solus" is not a clone. There are alot very interesting moments on this demo,
be it the minimalistic intro or the atmospheric "Winds of Emptyness" there's
at least one song for everyone who likes atmospher oriented black metal.

Just kidding,
but to be honest what does a good black metal song/band need more?
The songs are full of (how I've mentioned earlier) anger and hate but
that's for sure not everything. The songs are also very diversified,
atmospheric and chatcy, which I find is very positive.
The production of the songs is very good but not overproduced
it apsouluetly has the old school touch.

A cosmos full of ugly and retarded creations that are floating into the deepest corners of the universe and I'm just in the middle of it all. That's what I imagine while listening to Ophidian Forest's first song
"Never Wish To Sleep".

The strange atmosphere that's build goes on through the end of this release.
You can definitely hear that in this project are members from different corners of this ugly world, and their making something really special and unique. I'm sure many of You will hate this
kind of experimenting with the esence of black metal but in my opinion
this is a great way of keeping the flame alive and fresh.

All in all this split release is worth to be listened and expirienced.

This would be my interpretation of the music Grimlair makes.
It didn't really impressed me because there are so many bands out
there that are playing this kind of "depressive black metal" and making
it much more creative and unique. But anyway this album has it's moments.
So, if You're a "fan" of depressive music take a listen.

When beauty finds it's way into darkness, You know that it's meant to be appreciated by few. In most  cases peoples true emotions lay far behind what we can see or hear. It's inside, locked up and hidden from the eyes of the world, it's hidden in darkness.

And this record is taking us into this world, into a world where no one will ask, who You are,
into a world, where sadness and pain are all You have.
It takes You through a world, because there's a message for You..

what's the message?

It's all and it's nothing, it's sad and it's happy, it's me and it's You.

But it will probably be nothing if You can't let the sounds haunt
Your mind. If You can't relate to this pain, this will be nothing.

But for those, who know what it means to lose someone, for those,
who dreamed about death, for those alone, this will be a little cure.

This release is a great. A mixture of different styles like black metal doom metal & beautiful ambient.
The atmosphere is haunting but not agressive. It's perfect.

Raw black metal..
what do You imagine when You hear this term?

I personally have always two pictures in front of my mind.

The first one is, "music" that's recorded with a cell phone where You can't hear shit and where the band members are the "kewltest" and "truest" "satanists" eva.

And the second one, is music that's recorded without makeup, that means that it's recorded in a way that You
can hear how it really sounds like and not how it could.

Schattenfang's release Abgründe is definitely the second one.
The release sounds like that it's recorded during a rehearsal.
Which I think, is very nice because it gets a warm touch while playing some very cold, hypnotic
and here 'n' there groovie black metal.

We could talk a lot about this release but at the end of the day this a release that's made in the old way,
as honest as it gets, right in Your face but it's not mindless anger or hate is more..

..it's a way of life.

Marching into the cave knowing that You'll never get out. Surrounded by many faceless creatures, that are leading You into the deepest and darkest corner of all the worlds. So You can become one of them when Your soul has soaked all the darkness out of the chant.

This would be my interpretation of the opening song. It reminded me much of Attilas solo project Void Of Voices but with a stronger and heavyer atmosphere. In easy words the song is pure darkness.

After the initiation You have to sing, sing in a way humans were not choosen to sing. You have to let the darkness manifest into something more than just a feeling, something more than just a word, You have to become the manifestation of pure darkness.

There's no time to waste, You have to start right ahead. Go out and find the creatures of the night that are worthy. Go into humans minds take controle and torture him,
to see which is strong enough to become one of us.

I think that these words speak a very clear language. So, if You've read it You'll for sure know what You can expact out of this release.
If You ask me this is more than music this is a ritual for darkness.

Look at the album cover and tell me what it wakes in You.

I personally haven't felt anything special but then I've  listened to this album and I can tell You that the cover was brought to live. The power and energy of this release are great It has a very familiar, bright atmosphere but it's also pretty fresh.

To be honest, at some parts the songs get a bit boring but just when I thought that it will end badly they've added something very cool and interesting for example there are classic black metal passages followed by beautiful acoustics and female vocals, than we have some grindcoreish riffs mixed with that mixed with
nice synths and samplers create an very special atmosphere.

There's not to much to add to it, it's a very nice and fresh release that's walking on the old paths.
So, don't expect something unheard but rather something interesting and heartfull.
