Progressive, a word in todays metal world that means so much but also doesn't mean
anything at all. It's one of these things that get more and more ridiculous the more people
talk about it. I kinda have the feeling that most have no clue what progressive even means
when it comes to music.
Anyway, in my opinion this album is a very good example of what I'd describe as progressive
music. So many surprising and interesting elements carefully and thoroughly integrated
one into another. One of my favorite things on this album is the extreme way they combine
diffrenet elements into the music. I mean, in one moment You have these groovie death metal
riffs and hardocrish vocals and in the next second You find yourself listening to some toolish
psychedelic rock.
This being the first full lenght album of Mantra; I have to admit that the production is on a great
level. It's very clean but not overproduced. Also with every re-listening You're able to discover
something new. So, yes this album has a lot of replay value.
A final word, if You're looking for agressive and well crafted metal music this is a release
You definetly want to check out.
