This split is a brilliant choice for those looking for a sort of spiritual journey. The tracks offer to the listener a kind of a deep travel while listening to the different tunes along all the tracks from both artists. Despite both Miro and Kurgal being instrumental acts, they both offer the necessary things to transmit all they wanted to express with just the rough play of the piano, which is something I really enjoy, hearing nice tunes with the pure piano. I first started listening to Kurgal's songs. As soon as "An Opening To The Sight Of Thy Land" started I just knew I would really enjoy the rest of it. It started with a really powerful melody, a kind of melancholic tune: I just loved it. The second song, "Another Story To Tell", feels more like a tragedy travel; it has a kinda resonant feel to it.
The third track, "Over Euphrat", gave me sort of the same feeling as the first track but sounds a little more powerful and a little less "sad": Fantastic track. And to end with Kurgal songs, the fourth and final track it's called "Sunrise". The track seems to represent some kind of hope, like some brief moments of enlightment.
Now in the Miro part. It starts pretty different than the first Kurgal track; it certainly feels different at first glance, but then it turns out to be kind of a bridge to what the second song is which is called "A Dance Through The Darkness", and I think it captures the name of the song really well, it really suits it. "The Colourplay Of Light" embodies the first two tracks of Miro, because it doesn't feel too happy but not too deep neither, a combination of both. The next two tracks brings again a sence of upheaval until the final track comes in: "Farewell", which is a kinda sad tune.
It seems that in both Kurgal and Miro songs, they expressed a inner personal history from both of them through the beautiful sounds of a piano that embraces all of those sentiments that you can feel. It is recomended to listen to this split alone, with nothing else than you, the silence of the night, and the whispers of the songs.
Looking forward to some more of their work!
