A very long time has past since our last review, but here we are with a very special album.
But first of all some background info on the band.
"Bassist and songwriter Brendan James Hayter (Obsidian Tongue) formed Truthseeker in late 2010 as a vehicle for his compositions in the Space-Rock style. Aiming for a slow and nostalgic sound, the first songwriting attempts resulted in "Permafrost", "Through The Waves" and "Storm". When these were finished he quickly booked recording time with colleague and friend Dan Gonzalez. After finishing the basic tracking of these
songs as well as new songs "Daybreak" and "Submerged", Dan suggested hiring Alex Fewell (Scaphism / Forced Asphyxiation) for session drums. Intrigued by the idea of hiring a Death Metal drummer to play slow rock beats, they brought him in and were more than pleased with the results of the proceeding drum sessions."
Tracklist:
01. Daybreak
02. Permafrost
03. Storm
04. Submerged
05. Through the Waves

Now to the release itself. I'm going straight to the point the release is beautiful, heavy, nostalgic and pure. The atmosphere of these songs is like a soundtrack to the inner pain that's keeping one awake the whole night not knowing why to keep on going.
What I really love about this album is the harmony of the aggressive drums, reverb-soaked lead guitars, and the loud bass. I mean, what's better then a bass You can hear?
Anyway, there are no vocals on this release and I think they don't need them. I've seen it many times before, band making amazing instrumental tracks and then the vocals ruin everything. But that's not the case in here. Also the variousity of different styles reaching from ambient music over post-rock to doom metal is just great.
What's left to say, if You're into music that goes very deep and makes You think, that's something You don't want to miss.
